In a dramatic reversal of preference, nearly two thirds of
“Prospective Robotaxi Passengers”
now prefer to
avoid using shared built-in touch controls
to interact with the vehicle.
Before Covid-19 was widely recognized in the US and contact spread became a safety concern, preference for using shared built-in touch controls exceeded other options combined.
In July, preference for using apps on rider’s own phones surged past shared built-in controls, and preference for touchless voice commands has increased by nearly 50% since January.
